Our Space

Built in 1929 at nearly 9,000 square feet, The House is one of the oldest and largest buildings on campus. Students, student organizations, departments, and campus/community partners are welcome to rent space(s) at The House like our multipurpose halls, seminar rooms, library, art gallery, and/or kitchen for events that are aligned with The House’s mission.

Facilities

First Floor

Founders’ Room – Room 101

  • Types of events allowed – receptions, talks, lectures, dinners, small performances 
  • Capacity - 100 lecture style; 75 for seated receptions

E-Room – Room 104

  • Largest activity space
  • 75-foot ceiling, gothic windows, and wood paneling
  • Types of events allowed- lectures, theater/plays, screenings and watch events, rehearsals, banquets, large socials, performances
  • Capacity - 155 lecture style; 130 for seated receptions ; 220 for a stand-up reception or party
  • NOTE: Plays require notification and approval from The House’s Director and the Office of Undergraduate Productions http://www.yale.edu/oup/

Kitchen – Room 104A

Complete with stove, oven, refrigerator, sink, two microwaves, dishwasher, crockpot, instant pot, waffle makers, keurig, rice cooker, blender, spices, and more

Second Floor

Art Gallery – Room 201

  • Large room equipped with facilities for mounting art exhibits
  • Types of events allowed - performances, receptions, exhibitions, meetings, small talks/readings
  • Capacity - 60 seated, 80 standing
  • No food allowed inside

Library – Room 203

  • Available for studying, small group meetings/seminars
  • Capacity – 20
  • No food allowed inside

Basement

Lighten Room – Room B01 (Room was funded through the generosity of William (‘86) and Janifer (‘83) Lighten)

  • Equipment: 85-inch smart tv with HDMI connection, 5 large beanbags, couches and large lounge chairs, folding tables, stackable chairs
  • Types of Events allowed – rehearsals, meetings, large gathering, dinners, lectures, classes
  • Capacity - 75 seated, 125 standing

Mural Room – Room B06

  • Equipment: mobile whiteboard, lamps
  • Available for board meetings, seminar style classes, small group study sessions
  • Capacity – 20 seated

Purple Room – Room B09

  • Available for small meetings, discussions, rest
  • Capacity – 8 seated

Podcast Room - Room B11

  • Available for small meetings, discussions, band rehearsals
